Privacy Policy

Account. Your email address and a display name when you create an account. Email is required so we can secure your account and send thread notifications.

Optional profile details. You may choose to add birth year, gender, sexual orientation, and race or ethnicity. These are optional, and some of them are sensitive categories of personal information. We use them only to improve question relevance and understand who the product serves. You can leave them blank, and you can ask us to delete them at any time.

Your content. The answers, reflections, notes, and any question suggestions or feedback (including optional screenshots) you create in the app.

Basic technical data needed to run the service and keep it secure — for example, log and device information generated by our hosting provider. We do not use session-replay tools, and we do not sell your personal information.

To operate True Signal: create and secure your account, run your private threads, reveal answers once both people have responded, send you notifications about thread activity, and respond to support and feedback. We use aggregate, de-identified patterns to improve the questions and the experience.

A thread is private to the two people in it. Your answer to a shared question is not shown to the other person until you have both answered. Private reflections are visible only to you unless you explicitly choose to share one. We do not publish your content or make it searchable.

We share information with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract, and only as needed to run the app: our database and authentication provider (Supabase), our hosting provider (Vercel), and our email provider (Resend). We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and rights of our users. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain something to comply with law or resolve disputes. You can request deletion at any time.

You can access or update your profile details in the app, opt out of marketing-style emails using the unsubscribe link in those emails (notifications essential to a thread may still be sent), and request a copy or deletion of your personal information by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or the CCPA/CPRA (California), including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with a regulator. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

We protect your data with access controls at the database level (row-level security), encrypted connections, and limited internal access. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to reduce risk and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.

True Signal is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the app, contact us and we will remove the account and its data.

True Signal is operated from the United States. If you use it from outside the U.S., your information will be processed in the U.S. and other countries where our providers operate.

We may update this policy as the product changes. We will post the new version here and update the date above. Significant changes will be communicated in the app or by email.
